No, I've just read/watched enough sci-fi to have a decent estimate of how long it's going to take for the human race to evolve out of our bodies and be able to survive a scenario such as the one you envision. ;)

I do not envision a point in time where humans develop into beings of light, after all if they did they wouldn't be human now would they? However there will come a period when this planet reaches a stage of development in which it is said to be the "light and Life " era. It refers to an advanced stage of civilization and worldwide spirituality. There are several papers in the UBOOk about it if you want to check it out. It will be a long long long time before it happens.
